Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) - Apply to Immigrate to Yukon
The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) is built to attract candidates and entrepreneurs from all over the world who have enough expertise, capital and inspiration to improve the economy of this "greater than life" region.
Yukon is the smallest of the three provinces of Canada but also boasts the largest city among them. The capital of the province, Whitehorse, is a modern urban hub with affordable facilities and a strong infrastructure.
Yukon Provincial Nominee Program
The Yukon Provincial Nominee Program, through this system, qualified candidates with territorially-targeted skills and experience can receive a Yukon Provincial Nomination Certificate, upon which they can apply for Canada permanent residence with the Canadian government.
Because the Yukon is quite sparsely populated, there are plenty of possibilities for skilled and semi-skilled immigrant families to make it a home.
The Yukon PNP has different categories in which a person can qualify for immigration, including:
Yukon Express Entry (YEE)
Skilled Worker Program
Critical Impact Worker
Yukon Business Nominee Program
Yukon Community Pilot
Yukon Express Entry (YEE)
In the Yukon Express Entry Stream (YEE) eligible candidates who wish to register in the Federal Express Entry Pool and who are interested in living and working in the Yukon can apply. In March 2015, Yukon added the Express Entry System to its current immigration programs. The program allows the province to nominate individuals who are already in the Express Entry Pool of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Applicants with the required education, skilled work experience, language skills and other variables are welcome to apply for Canada permanent residency. This will help them to successfully settle and integrate into the Yukon labour market and communities.
Requirements for Yukon Express Entry
To immigrate under Yukon Express Entry the candidates:
Must meet the eligibility requirements for one of the three federal economic immigration programs
Must complete the online Express Entry application
Must have sufficient funds
Must have a valid employment offer
Must have a pure intent to live and work in Yukon
Skilled Worker and Critical Impact Worker Program
Skilled Worker and Critical Impact Worker Program work quite similarly. The requirements for both programs are similar too. If you have an employment offer for the categories A, 0 or B in the National Occupation Classification (NOC), you are eligible for the Skilled Worker program. However, if your employment offer falls in C or D categories under NOC, then you should apply for the Critical Impact Worker program. Basically, jobs that require low-skills fall under the Critical Impact Worker program. For applying under the Yukon Skilled Worker program, you need to fulfil the following requirements:
You must have a Temporary Work Permit or a Student visa if you are already working or living in Canada
You must not hold a refugee status
You must have a valid job offer from a Yukonian employer
You must have proof of work experience to claim the position
You must meet the language criteria
You must live and work in the Yukon province
You must apply for Canada permanent residence within three-six months of your job starting date
You must have 12 months of minimum work experience in a full-time job
Moreover, if you are applying for the Critical Worker program, you must have:
Worked as a permanent worker on a valid Canada work permit for a minimum of six months
Secured 55 points in the pre-Assessment grid in the Yukon Nominee Program
Apart from these requirements, your employer also must meet specific criteria to make your application successful.
Yukon employer must:
Be a Canada permanent resident
Be qualified and certified to operate a company
Be associated with an approved business for a minimum of one year
Yukon Business Nominee Program
If you're looking to run your own company in Yukon as a foreign entrepreneur, then the Business Nominee System is great for you. First of all, however, you need to make sure that you and your intended company meet a comprehensive list of requirements. If you wish to qualify for this process, you will have to meet all of the following personal eligibility criteria:
You must obtain a minimum score of 65 points in the Assessment grid
You must have a Canadian high school diploma or an equivalent degree
You must acquire further education if your business demands that
You must have three years of business experience
You must not be a refugee in Canada
You must never have denied immigration by the Canadian Government
You must not have an active application in other streams
You must have a minimum net worth of CAN$500,000 and a letter stipulating that you have assets acquired by all legal means
You must live and run your business permanently in Yukon province
You must hold a position of A or 0 categories in your business
You must have a thorough business plan
You must not engage in purchasing of new business at the time of applying under Yukon Business Nominee Program
You must have an intent to invest CAN$500,000 in the business
Yukon Community Pilot
One of the conditions to acquire Canada permanent residency under the YPNP is that you need to work at least 30 hours a week in an occupation. The Yukon Community Pilot shall allow a candidate with a provincial appointment from the Yukon Government to work two or more jobs at the same time in order to meet that requirement. The occupations must be non-seasonal in one of the following participating communities:
The greatest advantage of the Yukon Group Pilot is that it does not allow employers to carry out a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Yukon employers in the above-mentioned communities can employ foreign workers without needing to go through any additional processes on their part, that also means that there will be a lot more options for part-time work in Yukon, Canada for foreign workers.
How Yukon Nominee Program Works?
Completely filled applications must be sent to the Yukon Provincial Government in person or by fax. The records must be original, signed originals, or they would be rejected. You should expect to be contacted within 8 to 10 weeks of receiving your submission.
Applications that fulfil all the criteria are put in a pool of possible applicants and will remain in the pool for over six months. If you are chosen during this process, you will be asked to submit additional documentation to show that all the information in your document is correct. Once these have been authorised, you will be invited to appear in person with a regional government official.
If your interview has been successful, both you and your business plan will be evaluated. Approved applicants would be given a 2-year work permit to start a company in the Yukon. You have to settle your dependents and your company in the province during this period. After a 2-year permit period, the federal government will offer your application for Canada permanent residence.
