Prince Edward Island invites 121 immigration candidates in PNP draw ![]()
Prince Edward Island (PEI) invites a total of 121 immigration applicants for a provincial nomination for permanent residence. In its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on February 18, PEI sent the invitation to apply to 121 candidates for Canada permanent residence visa. Out of 121 invitations, 102 invites were issued to Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants and the remaining 19 invites were sent to Business Impact applicants with a minimum threshold of 82. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow provinces and territories of Canada to hand-pick immigration applicants who suit best to their labour market needs. They sometimes align with Canada's federal Express Entry System. Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program Several Canadian provinces work within the federal government's Express Entry system. Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is an enhanced immigration route which invites the highest scoring candidates to apply for Canada PR. In order to qualify for the PEI provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates must create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP. The EOI profiles are thus evaluated based on the unique points grid. The highest-ranking candidates are then issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) through monthly draws. Express Entry System The visa applications which are handled by Express Entry are for the three types of economic immigration: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class. For their age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English and French, qualifying candidates are awarded a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Express Entry applicants who obtain a provincial nomination earn an additional 600 points against their CRS score and are automatically assured an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada permanent residency at a corresponding Express Entry draw. Different Categories under PEI PNP 1. Labour Impact Category The Labour Impact Category deals with foreign nationals who have a legitimate job offer in the PEI and who have the approval of their employer. It is classified into three streams: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and Foreign Graduates. Applicants under this category must submit an EOI profile to be taken into consideration for provincial appointment through the Labour Impact Category. 2. Business Impact Category This category deals with candidates who want to own and operate a business in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island. The minimum score in the recent draw for obtaining an ITA was 82. All 19 candidates who were issued invites scored 82 and more scores under the Work Permit Stream. Source: CIC News |
