Indian Tourist Visa Rate Up, 6-month Tourist Visa Out

KUALA LUMPUR: The six-month Indian tourist visa for Malaysians has been scrapped and replaced with a visa of one-year validity, priced at RM462.56.

The one-year visa offers single or multiple entries into the country.

Checks on the High Commission of India website saw that the six-month visa was no longer available in the visa categories list.

The new directive will see Malaysians being 'forced' to pay a higher amount for the tourist visa, regardless of the number of entries into the country within a year.

Previously, the six-month validity tourist visa was priced at RM194.56.

A screen shot of the new directive, effective July 1, has gone viral since yesterday.

The High Commission of India when contacted confirmed of the new directive.

The one-year tourist visa was first introduced on April 1 last year.

Meanwhile, the e-Visa has seen an increase to RM320 from RM120 since June 25. The validity of e-Visa is 60 days from the date of arrival in the country.
