Japan’s Technical Intern Training Program (TITP)
The Technical Intern Training program was introduced primarily to transfer skills and technologies developed in Japan throughout the other developing nations and to contribute to the development of human resources by promoting international cooperation with developing countries. The training period is a maximum of five years, which is conducted in accordance with technical intern training plans.
About Technical Intern Training Program
The act on Proper Technical Intern Training and Protection of Technical Intern Trainees was announced on November 28, 2016, and came into effect on November 1, 2017.
This program was introduced with ICRRA and related ordinances as its legal basis. Through this Act, a new licensing system for supervising organizations was introduced, that accredits and expands the program. Also, this program helps implements organizations by training period and provides quotes for technical intern trainees.
Procedures for accepting technical intern trainees
There are two types of procedures
Individual Enterprise Type
Supervising Organization Type
Individual Enterprise Type:
A format whereby enterprises and other businesses in Japan accept employees
of overseas local subsidiaries, joint venture companies or trading partners for
technical intern training.
In this format, non-profit organizations from different sectors welcome trainees with a technical background and provide them with relevant training at affiliated enterprises.
After entering Japan, technical intern trainees go through
Japanese language training and other pieces of training to get aware of the policies and
rules required for their legal protection. The whole process is a part of
training which a Japanese enterprise offers to the foreign trainees.
Categories of Technical Intern Training Program
Technical Intern Training consists of three types of training categories; which are:
First-year after entry: Acquiring of skills.
The second and third years: Enhancement of skills.
Fourth & fifth years: Proficiency of skills.
Authentication of the Technical Intern Training Program

The training plan needs to be graded as 1,2 and 3 for each trainee.
