Express Entry Draw: Canada Invites 4200 Immigration Candidates ![]()
Canada conducted a new Express Entry Draw on September 30th. The Federal Skilled Worker Program applicants were among qualified applicants for the third consecutive year. The minimum score for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) in this latest draw was 471. it indicated a decline of 1 point over the preceding all-program draw held on 16 September. The significant number of Invitations to Apply (ITA) released today is a clear indicator that Canada swears allegiance to obtaining large scale immigration in 2021 and beyond. The Canada Express Entry system handles the profiles of applicants for three of Canada's major economic-level immigration programmes - the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). In the Express Entry system, qualifying candidates for the FSWC, FSTC, CEC programmes and some of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates are rated on the basis of the Detailed Ranking System or CRS. The CRS examines several variables, including age, job experience, education and competence in English or French. The highest-ranked applicants in the Express Entry pool will receive an ITA, at which point they will apply for permanent residence in Canada. So far, Canada has sent out 78,350 ITAs in 2020, way above the 69,420 released at the same time in 2017, another record-breaking year for Express Entry. The new Express Entry draw saw the tie-breaking rule enforced at 12:37:25 UTC on 2 March 2020. This indicates that all applicants with a CRS score of 471 and above who entered their profile before that date and time earned an ITA in this invitation round. The most recent invitation round was Canada's 164th Express Entry Draw held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It was also the 31st draw of the year and the fifth all-program draw since Canada closed on 18 March. Although the vast majority of Express Entry draws typically include candidates from all three systems, since the advent of the pandemic and the implementation of travel restrictions, IRCC has begun to allow exceptions to this law. Between March and the start of July, the IRCC alternated between the CEC and the PNP draws, but the total number of ITAs from the two draws combined is usually 3,900. |
